The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed, on Wednesday, the Executive Council of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) during its 220th session, unanimously adopting a decision regarding the Old City of Jerusalem and its walls.

The official spokesperson for the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ambassador Sufyan al-Qudah, stated that the decision taken by the Executive Council today called for Israel, as the occupying power, to stop all its unilateral, unlawful, and illegal measures aimed at changing the existing historical and legal status in Jerusalem and its holy sites, considering them null and void.

Ambassador al-Qudah added that this decision reaffirms all aspects of the Jordanian position regarding the Old City of Jerusalem and its walls, including Islamic and Christian holy sites, and once again emphasizes the contents of previous decisions issued by the Executive Council and decisions of the World Heritage Committee concerning Jerusalem.
