Agencies: It seems to be a new step in the reflections of the war between Russia and Ukraine, the Russian government announced a ban on the export of rice and rice groats until December 31, 2023, with the aim of maintaining stability in the domestic market, in a new extension of a measure that was first taken a year ago.
The Russian Cabinet said in a statement: "The government has imposed a temporary ban on the export of rice and rice groats. The restrictions will be in effect until December 31, 2023," clarifying that this decision was made to maintain stability in the domestic market.
The Russian government indicated that the ban does not apply to exports to member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, South Ossetia, and Abkhazia.
It added that sending rice grains and rice abroad as humanitarian aid, as well as within the framework of international transit operations, is allowed.
The Russian authorities had banned the export of rice and rice groats on June 30, 2022, for six months and extended the ban on December 31 of last year for another six months.
Earlier, the UAE Ministry of Economy announced yesterday, Friday, the temporary cessation of rice exports and re-exports outside the country for four months to ensure sufficient supplies in the domestic market.
A few days ago, India, the world's largest rice exporter, announced a ban on the export of white rice except for Basmati "effective immediately," a decision that could lead to an increase in global rice prices.
