Amid the unprecedented escalation in the region, amidst mutual Israeli-Iranian threats, Tehran confirmed that it welcomes any proposals for de-escalation and peace.
Iran's readiness to play a role in improving the situation
The Iranian government spokesperson, Fatemeh Mohajerani, stated today, Tuesday, that her country welcomes any proposals for peace and a ceasefire, and is ready to play a role in improving the situation in Gaza and Lebanon. She emphasized that Iran has never initiated a war against any country, stressing its capability to defend itself with high determination, according to local media reports.
Iran's responses: the right time and place
In her remarks, Mohajerani added: "We will not hesitate or rush to respond, but we will respond to any aggression at the right time and place." She confirmed that Iran is prepared for any response if necessary, regardless of any consultations taking place between Washington and Tel Aviv. She also added: "As announced by the Leader of the Revolution (Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei), we will not rush to respond, nor will we be lenient, but we will respond at the right time and place when necessary."
Iranian warnings about war
Many Iranian officials have repeatedly announced in recent days and weeks that Tehran does not seek war or an expansion of the conflict regionally, but it is prepared for it, warning of a stronger response this time than the previous attack if Israel commits any aggression.
Israel defines its position
Meanwhile, Tel Aviv has vowed to respond with a deadly and surprising attack to the Iranian offensive, while Washington urged it to limit its attacks to military bases and refrain from targeting Iranian oil and nuclear facilities.
The Iranian attack on Israel
Tehran launched more than 180 missiles towards Israel on October 1, targeting three air bases, which it claimed were involved in the assassination of Hamas' political bureau chief, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran last July, as well as a general in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard who was with Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah on the day of his assassination in the southern suburbs of Beirut on September 27.
