Six people, including five children and one adult, were taken to the hospital after a school bus, carrying students, overturned north of Calgary.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police asked drivers to avoid part of Highway 2A near Didsbury, Alta, this morning after the incident.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) stated that there were no fatalities from the incident, but several people were sent to the hospital.

Medical emergency services confirmed that six people sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Three of the children are receiving medical care in Didsbury, while two others and one adult were transferred to hospitals in Calgary.

The police stated in a press release that nine students and teachers were on the bus at the time of the collision.

Officials confirmed to CTV News that all students and staff were part of the Rocky View school district.

It is believed that road conditions contributed to the accident, but police said the cause is still under investigation.

Didsbury police stated that they were still at the scene around 1:30 PM, and the road is expected to be closed for three to four more hours.

The town of Didsbury is located approximately 80 kilometers north of Calgary.
