Hate speech is abnormal and unacceptable behavior, but it is escalating!

I do not want to continue my talk about what I discussed in the previous issue, which was related to the topic of Islamophobia, but I would like to mention that the situation will not change as long as those who claim to be leaders of the Muslim community work to steer matters in a way that serves only their personal interests.

Today, I will talk about the topic of hatred, where June 18 was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly as an international day to reject and combat hate speech, and this leads us to the definition of this intended speech which the whole world still demands to be rejected, fought against, and opposed.

Speech, in general, is a means of expressing an idea or opinion before an audience in a written, verbal, visual, artistic, or other form.

This expression can be published through media, including the internet, publications, radio, and television.

As a result of the lack of discipline in speech by some, dangerous phenomena have appeared because some speeches have slipped into the swamp of hatred, which undoubtedly leads to many consequences, the most important of which is disturbing social peace due to incitement to violence against marginalized groups.

Manifestations of hate speech include cases of defamation, repeated insults or slander, or harmful stereotypes that may create environments charged with hatred and lead to negative repercussions.

Hate speech has a very negative impact on the targeted group due to the psychological harm arising from the violation of its dignity as a result of humiliation, and the result is the isolation of this group from society. Hate speech is considered one of the worst forms of bullying ever because it leads to rallying extremist opinions together to assassinate the personality of the targeted party, and consequently, these aberrant behaviors lead to strengthening the scope of marginalization of the targeted group socially, politically, culturally, and economically, as well as contributing to turning the targeted individuals from normal people into ideologically and behaviorally extremist individuals.

Therefore, it is important to acknowledge the danger of hate speech verbally and practically in all its forms, and not to overlook the causes of this type of negative behavior. We must also work seriously to find radical solutions to purify the general atmosphere of society to protect it from hatred, as ensuring comprehensive and adequate protection from all ethical, humanitarian, professional, and societal aspects of human rights requires confronting hatred in all its forms.

This takes us again to look deeply at many abnormal behaviors and terrifying stories we hear from many who do not know how to deal with such matters without fear or hesitation so as not to lose their humanity, preserve their rights, and allow them to live in security, safety, and peace.

Here, I would like to point out that hate speech takes multiple forms that differ in essence and method of execution, where this aberrant speech can take the form of offensive comments filled with mockery and insult to the constants of the targeted party, up to explicit calls for discrimination against a particular group and, in the worst cases, calls for genocide.

On the other hand, I must mention that international law specifically refers to certain classifications of severe hate speech that governments must prevent.

This includes speech that actively promotes discriminatory hatred in a way that incites people to harm the targeted group merely because of their identity or a specific culture. This type of harm may come in the form of violence, discrimination, or any other hostile act.

Also, if the hate speech is offensive, insulting, or inciting to murder, it must be precisely identified and described, causes studied, and motivations carefully understood so that the results can be dealt with by finding logical, realistic, and sustainable solutions.

This certainly makes me emphasize the necessity of realizing that duty obliges us to distinguish between reality and imagination when dealing with such a dilemma, as we should not overlook all the positive aspects and focus only on the abnormal, negative, and individual aspects to consider them a comprehensive title and source of hatred. Here is the flaw, here is the problem, here hearts fill with hatred, here intellectual extremism grows, from here comes hatred, and we begin to feel speeches full of hatred that have nothing to do with humanity.

Some of us overlook this type of speech, some reject it, some exploit it for their own benefit, and others magnify it and invest it to ignite sedition and thus work to continue it.

Therefore, if we want a radical treatment, we must face the truth, name things by their names, and harness all energies to cooperate in confronting it. Treating dangerous matters is not done by containment alone but by cauterization, especially when it is urgent, transient, and aberrant.

The question is how to stand up to this destructive speech and curb it before it escalates, as it is incumbent upon us as individuals or groups to do much to confront hate speech and build a better society capable of contributing to building, prosperity, and thriving society so that it benefits all citizens and security, safety, and peace prevail for everyone.

Therefore, I find that there is a necessity to activate the culture of awareness, organize efforts without competition or exclusion of any party, and use our rights to freedom of opinion and expression to promote equality among all and confront hatred in all its forms and discrimination wherever it exists, and to become one hand working under one umbrella and for the advancement of one country that grants everyone security, safety, and peace, so they can embark on the path of creativity and unlimited giving to always be strong in its security, culture, diversity, and its reconciled discourse, thus depriving all intellectually aberrant individuals of practicing their sick behaviors to enjoy a reconciled society governed by the discourse of love, meeting, sincere, and honest belonging.
