"Brittany Drexel" was last seen in April 2009 when she was roaming between hotels in "Myrtle Beach". Her boyfriend, who stayed at home in "Rochester", New York, became worried when she stopped responding to text messages.

"Carter Weaver," the sheriff of "Georgetown" County said on Monday at a press conference, that Drexel was lost that night and was kidnapped by "Raymond Douglas Moody" who raped and killed her before burying her body the next day in the forest.

"Drexel's" body was found last Wednesday in "Georgetown" County, about 35 miles (56 kilometers) down the coast where she disappeared.

This discovery came after a series of information and investigations that included the arrest of "Moody" on May 4 on charges of obstructing justice.

Investigators remained silent about the case until Monday, when Moody, 62 years old, was charged, and jail records did not clarify whether he had an attorney.

Sheriff "Weaver" said that Moody has a "long history of committing sexual crimes" but did not provide details.

Moody is registered in the South Carolina sex offender registry for forcible sodomy of a person under 14 years old and kidnapping.

The mayor and police chief of "Myrtle Beach" and the FBI agent responsible for South Carolina said that for 13 years there had been many misleading rumors.

The arrest warrant stated that "Drexel" was strangled the night of her disappearance and the police added that dental records supported by DNA testing confirmed finding Drexel's remains last week.

Attorney Jimmy Richardson said: "It is a good day for people to be reminded realistically about Brittany’s case."

Drexel's parents made another trip to the "Myrtle Beach" area this week, but this visit was different from other visits that included candlelight vigils, media interviews, and updates from investigators without answers.

"Dawn," Drexel's mother, said: "Today represents the beginning of a new chapter. Searching for Brittany is a quest for justice."

She thanked all the investigators who worked to find her daughter and said, "This is really every mother's worst nightmare. I am saddened for my beautiful daughter Brittany."
