The county police are searching for an elderly missing man who went for a walk with his dogs on the trails behind his home in the town of Springwater on Thursday afternoon.

The police say that 87-year-old Harvey Doherty took his dogs to the wooded area right behind his house in the County Road 27 area north of Highway 26 in Midhurst just before 4 p.m.

They said he did not take his wallet, cell phone, or any other means of communication with him. Sergeant Terry Ann Penkarinha noted: "He did not have any food or water with him."

Police say the two dogs have since returned home, but there was no sign of Doherty. Penkarinha added that "police officers are making great efforts in the search." Officers are searching on the ground and in the air.

He is described as six feet tall with short gray hair. He was wearing a blue jacket, black pants, and hiking shoes.
