Efforts to change the name of India to 'Bharat'...

The Indian government seems determined to change the country's name to "Bharat," as it has decided to replace the name India with the Sanskrit word "Bharat" in the dinner invitations sent to guests attending the G20 summit this week.

The Indian President, Droupadi Murmu, was referred to as "President of Bharat" instead of "President of India" in the invitation sent to attendees at the G20.

This step reflects the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Hindu nationalist party to remove what it considers colonial-era names.

Since coming to power, Modi's government has sought to eliminate remaining symbols of the colonial era from history books, urban planning, and political entities in the country. The parliamentary complex in New Delhi, originally designed by the British, has been renovated to replace colonial structures.

Last month, the Indian government revealed its intention to amend laws that date back to the British colonial era.

Members of his ruling Hindu nationalist party, the Bharatiya Janata Party, have previously sought to launch a campaign against the use of the country's well-known name "India," which has roots in ancient Western cultures and was imposed during the British invasion.

The government has also called for a special session of parliament later this month while remaining silent on the agenda. However, the "News 18" channel reported that government sources said that members of the Bharatiya Janata Party would introduce a special resolution prioritizing the name "Bharat."
