Australian Nick Kyrgios once again delivered an exceptional performance to defeat his compatriot Alex de Minaur 6-2, 6-3 at the Canadian Open tennis tournament, just one day after beating world No.1 Daniil Medvedev.
The Wimbledon finalist showed outstanding performance from the start in Montreal, leaving no chance for his opponent to get into the match atmosphere, winning the match in a little over an hour, and he will meet Polish Hubert Hurkacz in the quarter-finals.
The victory will boost Kyrgios' ranking enough to be seeded at the US Open later this month.
Kyrgios, who has won 15 of his last 16 matches, said: "Today was really tough mentally for me to face Alex, as we are friends and his career has been good so far, and he is defending the Australian flag."
He added: "It's mentally tough, and it's never easy to face a friend like that, especially if he is from Australia."
