A building consisting of 4 floors collapsed in the city of Alexandria in northern Egypt, after midnight on Thursday, while rescuers are searching for people trapped under the rubble.
Local official Sahar Shaaban confirmed to "Sky News" the rescue of 3 people from under the rubble of the building, whose health condition has not yet been determined, pointing out that "search for others is ongoing."
The relevant authorities in Alexandria Governorate also received a notification from the emergency police about the collapse of the building on Talfari Street in the Al-Wardiyan area.
She said that the building completely collapsed, and initial information indicated that there were fewer than 10 people living in it. 3 people have been extracted from under the rubble and transported by ambulance to the hospital, with no news about their health condition so far.
The building is old and dilapidated, consisting of a ground floor and 3 upper floors, and a demolition order was issued for it since 2018, according to her statement.
