China and France confirmed the necessity of protecting civilians in the Gaza Strip, in accordance with international humanitarian law, according to bbc.
The two countries expressed, in a joint statement regarding the situation in the Middle East issued today Tuesday, on the occasion of the China-France summit in Paris, their objections to the Israeli attack on Rafah, which could lead to a wider humanitarian catastrophe, as well as their objections to the forced displacement of Palestinian civilians.
The presidents of the two countries emphasized, in the statement, the urgent need for an immediate and sustainable ceasefire to enable the wide-scale delivery of humanitarian aid and to protect civilians in the Gaza Strip.
The presidents also called for the effective opening of all important corridors and crossing points to enable the rapid, safe, and sustainable delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip without obstacles and to enhance the coordination of international humanitarian efforts.
China and France condemned the Israeli entity's policy regarding the construction of settlements, which violate international law and constitute a major obstacle to lasting peace and the potential establishment of a viable Palestinian state.
The presidents of the two countries called for renewed efforts to launch an irrevocable political process to implement the two-state solution concretely and establish a viable, independent Palestinian state with sovereignty based on the borders of 1967.
