Logan Stankoven scored two goals and one assist, and Canada defeated Switzerland 6-3 on Wednesday evening in the World Junior Hockey quarterfinals.
In the afternoon quarterfinals, Sweden defeated Latvia 2-1 and Finland beat Germany 5-2.
In the late game, the defending champion United States faced the Czech Republic.
Emil Andre broke the tie for Sweden in the middle of the third period. Isak Rosen opened the scoring for Sweden on a power play in the first period.
Gustavs Ozolinš tied it late in the second period. Jesper Wallstedt saved 12 shots for Sweden.
Roby Jarventie scored two goals and made two assists for Finland. Kasper Simontaival and Joël Määttä each had a goal and an assist, and Finland scored four times.
Roni Hirvonen also scored a goal and Levi Meirelinén made 19 saves. Bennett Rossmy scored two strong goals for Germany.
