The Canadian government has warned its citizens against traveling to Brazil, and below Arab Canada reviews the details of this notice and the reasons for the travel warning as announced by the government.
The federal government warned against traveling to Brazil due to heavy rains that caused floods and multiple areas to experience landslides, resulting in casualties due to these weather conditions.
The authorities announced the death of about 8 people, and emergency services were unable to reach the severely affected areas.
It was also announced that floods and landslides damaged infrastructure in several areas of Rio de Janeiro.
The federal government stated that the most affected areas are Barra do Piraí, Jabari, Nova Iguaçu, and Mendes, which led to the interruption of essential services such as transportation, water and fuel supplies, food, communication networks, and healthcare.
The Canadian government urges its citizens in Brazil to be cautious, stay away as much as possible from danger zones, continuously monitor weather conditions, and follow local evacuation instructions.
