The Canadian Premier League witnessed a missed opportunity that may be the strangest in the history of football so far, during a match between Valour and their guest Halifax Wanderers.

The match brought the two teams together on Sunday evening, as part of the 14th round of the autumn season of the Canadian Premier League.

In the 18th minute of the match, a strange incident occurred starring William Akio, Valour's striker and South Sudan national team player.

The incident began when the ball reached Alessandro Regui inside the penalty area and he shot it, but it hit the visiting team's goalkeeper, causing the ball to slowly head towards the goal line.

After that, William Akio made what could be the strangest move in football history, when he cleared his teammate Regui's ball from the opponent's goal line, kicking it towards the corner flag in a way that amazed everyone who watched the incident.

Social media users circulated a video of this strange chance, with many explaining what the South Sudan national team striker did as if he actually thought Regui's ball had crossed the goal line and started celebrating early, without realizing it hadn't crossed at all.

It is worth noting that Valour won the match, despite this strange opportunity, with a 1-0 goal scored by Moussa Dair five minutes before the end.
