Canada renewed its affirmation of its continued support for the efforts of the National High Electoral Commission "in order to hold free and credible elections" in Libya, appreciating the efforts exerted to carry out electoral processes in accordance with internationally recognized standards and principles.
This was stated by the Canadian Ambassador to Libya, Isabelle Sauvé, during her meeting with the Chairman of the High Electoral Commission Council, Imad Al-Sayeh, at the Commission's headquarters in Tripoli, in the presence of Commission Council member Rabab Halab, according to what was published by the Commission on its Facebook page.
The Commission explained that Al-Sayeh discussed with the Canadian ambassador ways to support the international community for elections in Libya and what support and expertise can be provided in the field of election management and implementation. He also informed her of the Commission's readiness and its preparedness to carry out municipal council elections.
