The Canadian Foreign Ministry announced the highest level of travel warning to Israel to avoid traveling to the country because of the deteriorating security situation.
The warning noted that travelers should not rely on the Canadian government to assist them with evacuation, stating that "the security situation could deteriorate further without warning."
According to a statement from the Foreign Ministry, Canadian citizens and permanent residents in Israel, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip, as well as their spouses and dependent children, should ensure that their travel documents are updated in case evacuation is necessary.
The Canadian Foreign Ministry had previously raised the travel advisory to Israel and the West Bank to the highest risk level on April 12, then lowered this warning for Israel later that same month, advising Canadians to "avoid all non-essential travel."
