John Philip Linteau, Canada's ambassador to Saudi Arabia, stated that his country is striving to support a comprehensive partnership with Saudi Arabia in promoting regional peace and security, and economic cooperation.
He noted that Saudi Arabia is also looking forward to pushing for many Canadian companies to seek a share within the Kingdom by 2030.
Linteau said in Riyadh: “I am pleased with this significant momentum that has been generated in our bilateral relationship since May 2023.
When our countries officially restored full diplomatic relations to their previous level, many Canadian companies are either looking to open offices in Saudi Arabia or are considering doing so to take advantage of the enormous business opportunities in the Kingdom.”
He added, “Since then, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have spoken on several occasions, and there have been high-level visits in both directions, and we expect more in the future.”
He continued that through the repeated invitation of various players to hold talks regarding a peace formula to end the war in Ukraine, Saudi Arabia is also playing a constructive diplomatic role in relation to global peace and security, and we will continue to work together towards a safer and more prosperous world.
Linteau concluded: “I look forward to expanding the bridges between Canada and Saudi Arabia through a range of common priorities starting from enhancing economic prosperity and contributing to vibrant communities, to promoting regional peace and security. We recognize that having a safe and stable region will enhance the success of Saudi Vision 2030.”
