Can masks cause speech disorders in children?

Canadian speech therapy specialist, Anne Sophie Gauthier, confirmed that "students wearing masks in kindergartens and schools has a 'negative impact on children'," especially since wearing the mask continuously for two consecutive years can cause language difficulties and speech problems in students."

The specialist added that children who already suffer from language disorders will experience the problem more deeply when wearing the mask, and they will find it difficult to communicate with others, especially since the mask hides facial expressions.

Not only that, but the specialist also confirms that teachers wearing masks while delivering lessons negatively affects the child's ability to understand, meaning that the inability to read teachers' lips complicates children's comprehension of the lesson.
