If you think that learning a little French or Spanish in your spare time is difficult, you should take a look at the difficulty level of some other languages. For example, the Thai alphabet consists of 44 consonants and 32 different vowels.

1. Arabic:

If you want to learn Arabic, you have to learn a new alphabet and get used to reading from right to left. It is also difficult for English speakers to master many sounds in this language, not to mention understanding its rules full of irregular verbs.

2. Russian:

Russian is not considered difficult compared to some other languages listed in this list. However, there are some obstacles that prevent mastering the Russian language, including the not-so-simple spelling; it is full of vowel sounds unfamiliar to English speakers, and it requires learning a completely new alphabet to master it.

3. Korean:

The Korean language has a relatively clear alphabet and it will not take long to learn it, unlike the characters used in Chinese and Japanese writing systems, so you can start pronouncing words quite quickly. But the challenge lies in how to speak, as the grammar is completely different from English and the pronunciation is full of rules that are difficult to master.

4. Navajo:

This language is so difficult that code talkers in World War II used it to develop a communication code so that the Germans could not track them.

5. Finnish:

Finnish is known as a difficult language to learn, as its nouns consist of 15 different grammatical cases, unlike English. In addition, it was not influenced by Latin or German, so it is impossible to guess the meaning of a word or idea.

6. Vietnamese:

With its unusual grammar, difficult pronunciation, and six different tones, the Vietnamese language presents a challenge for English speakers.

7. Mongolian:

The hardest thing about the Mongolian language is its pronunciation. Once you master that, the grammar will not be difficult.

8. Hungarian:

The magazine mentioned that the Hungarian language consists of 18 grammatical cases and 14 vowels, making correct pronunciation extremely difficult. Hungarian also relies more on expressions than other languages.

9. Thai:

When you try to learn Thai, you will find that writing and pronunciation are harder than the grammar itself. It contains five different tones and long and short vowel sounds, and the alphabet contains 44 consonants and 32 vowels.

10. Icelandic:

The words of this language may be very long, and decoding how to pronounce them can indeed be a challenge. It is often listed as one of the most difficult languages to learn for English speakers.
