The U.S. Department of State reported that Secretary Antony Blinken condemned during a phone call with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al Sudani the attack on the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad as well as the series of attacks on American personnel in Iraq and Syria in recent weeks.
The official website of the U.S. Department of State stated today, Wednesday, that Blinken welcomed the Iraqi Prime Minister's strong condemnation of the recent attacks, as well as the Iraqi government's commitment to investigate and hold the perpetrators accountable.
He pointed out that the attacks are carried out by militias supported by Iran that undermine Iraq's sovereignty and independence, and pledged to remain in close contact with Al Sudani in the coming days and weeks.
It is noted that rockets targeted the vicinity of the U.S. Embassy inside the fortified Green Zone in central Baghdad last Friday, without causing human casualties.
