Two police officers were injured in a confrontation with a man who entered the Pickering police station armed with a gun yesterday afternoon, Saturday.
In a post on X, the Durham Regional Police said the man entered the western division on Kingston Road at around 4:30 PM.
The police continued in the post: “An interaction occurred between the suspect and the officers at the reception desk, leading to the man's detention, and the suspect was later transported to the hospital, and the extent of his injuries is unknown.”
The police added that two officers sustained minor injuries as a result of the interaction, and the officers believe at this time that the firearm is a small handgun, but it will need to be sent for testing to confirm, and the reason for the suspect's entry into the police station is not known, which was closed following the incident.
The police said: “The investigation is still active, and further information will be released as soon as we are able to do so.”
