The Arab Parliament strongly condemned today, Sunday, the act of an extremist burning a copy of the Holy Quran in the Danish capital Copenhagen and warned the Turkish embassy of the dangers of repeating such provocative acts that fuel feelings of hatred, incite violence, and threaten the security and stability of societies.
The President of the Arab Parliament, Adel Al-Asoumi, said in a statement that burning the Holy Quran is a "barbaric act especially since we are in the blessed month of Ramadan, and it is condemned by all international laws and charters."
Al-Asoumi added that this act contradicts human and ethical values and principles, calling for the necessity to work on spreading values of tolerance, peaceful coexistence, acceptance of others, and avoiding insults to religions and their symbols.
He also affirmed that these extremists will not achieve their vile goals, as Islam will remain proud in the face of these systematic campaigns that will never harm it.
Al-Asoumi called on the international community to strongly confront such acts and prevent insults to all religions.
