The Moroccan army has called on Moroccan citizens to take caution and move to safe locations in anticipation of the risk of new aftershocks.
The Royal Moroccan Armed Forces clarified through its social media account: "We remind you of the necessity to take caution and implement safety measures due to the risk of aftershocks."
The German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ) announced that a new earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale struck Morocco early Saturday.
The second tremor occurred 19 minutes after the first earthquake that hit Marrakech with a magnitude of 7 on the Richter scale.
The German Research Center for Geosciences reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 4 km in the Al Haouz region, which is one of the Moroccan regions belonging to the Marrakech-Safi region.
Earlier, the Moroccan Institute of Geophysics announced the recording of an earthquake with a magnitude of 7 on the Richter scale, according to what the national seismic monitoring network recorded.
