Former member of the National Assembly and former leader of the opposition, Louise Harel, will chair the French Language Committee in the city of Montreal.
This morning, Friday, the composition of the committee was revealed, which will have a mandate to advise and support the city in implementing its 2021-2024 action plan to promote the French language.
Louise Harel commented on her new position saying, "I am honored to chair the City of Montreal's French Language Committee. French is our common language, and we must make sure to promote it well."
Louise Harel previously served as a member of parliament for the Hochelaga riding in the National Assembly from 1981 to 2008. She held various ministerial positions in Quebec. She also ran for mayor of Montreal in 2013 before joining the City of Montreal's French Language Committee.
