At least three people were killed and several others injured on Monday after a shooting in Farmington, New Mexico, according to police.
Farmington Police said in a Facebook post that "there are multiple civilian victims," adding that one suspect "was confronted and killed at the scene."
The police clarified that schools in the area were closed, noting that two officers were shot, one a city police officer and the other a New Mexico state police officer, both in stable condition, and are at the San Juan Regional Medical Center.
The police post stated that "the identity of the suspect is unknown and there are no other known threats at this time," adding that the city, San Juan County, and state police are monitoring the incident.
Meghan Mitchell, an official in the San Juan County Sheriff's Office, described the incident as an "ongoing open and active investigation," explaining that she has no further information at this time.
