The major European airline "Air France KLM" announced today a loss of 256 million euros (278 million dollars) during the fourth quarter of the year, compared to the profits recorded in the previous year, which amounted to 496 million euros.
The company, which includes the low-cost brand "Transavia," said the recent results were affected by the geopolitical situation in the Middle East and increased unit costs, although this was partially offset by the decrease in aircraft fuel prices.
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization fell by 24% to reach 601 million euros, compared to 786 million euros.
Revenues rose by 3.9% during the last quarter of the year to reach 7.41 billion euros, compared to 7.13 billion euros last year.
Revenue also grew by 6.7% at constant currency rates.
"Air France KLM" received 22.3 million passengers during this quarter, an increase of 6.4% compared to the previous year.
