The Professional Health Federation in Quebec (FIQ) announced today, Tuesday, that it has reached a framework agreement with the Quebec government.
The proposed agreement will be presented to FIQ union representatives at its federal council scheduled to be held from Tuesday to Thursday, and if accepted, it will be presented to members for a vote of approval.
FIQ President Julie Bouchard says that after 16 months of negotiations, it will be up to the members to assess the work done at the bargaining table.
A few days ago, Bouchard said that FIQ was in fast negotiations and that the union hopes to reach a framework agreement very soon.
FIQ was not part of the joint front between unions, which represented 420,000 workers in the public health and education sectors.
This group reached agreements with the Quebec government shortly after the holiday season in December.
FIQ includes more than 80,000 members, including nurses, nursing assistants, respiratory therapists, and clinical perfusion specialists working in healthcare institutions across Quebec.
