Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky renewed his demand to NATO to impose a no-fly zone over his country "before Russian missiles fall on the territory of the alliance" at a time when Washington condemned the Russian missile attack on a Ukrainian base near the Polish border yesterday, Sunday.

Zelensky's appeal came after 35 people were killed and more than 130 others were injured following the missile attack on that base located in Yavoriv near the Ukrainian border with Poland, a NATO member.

Meanwhile, The Washington Post, The New York Times, and Financial Times quoted U.S. officials as saying that Russia requested military equipment and economic aid from China to help it overcome Western sanctions, but a spokesman for the Beijing embassy in Washington told several media outlets, "I have never heard of that."

For his part, the U.S. White House said that a delegation headed by National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan will meet - today - in the Italian capital (Rome) with China's top diplomat Yang Jiechi to discuss the war in Ukraine.

Sullivan said - in a televised interview - that his country informed Beijing that it will not allow any country in the world to compensate Russia for its losses from sanctions.
