Italian media revealed details of the rape of 7 young migrants and teenagers of Egyptian origin, against an Italian girl (13 years old), recently in the city of Catania in Sicily, southern Italy, and the subsequent arrest of the assailants.
The Italian newspaper "Corriere della Sera" stated that the incident, described as "brutal," occurred on the evening of January 30 in one of the most famous public parks in Catania, Villa Bellini, which dates back to the eighteenth century, located on the city's main street, and was guarded by the police for days on the occasion of the feast of the patron saint Sant'Agata.
The Italian newspaper pointed out that initially the attackers surrounded the girl and her fiancé (17 years old), blocking every escape route, then began harassing her and prevented her friend from defending her, while the two tried to escape, but the group prevented them.
The newspaper added that the girl was dragged to the public restrooms and was raped alternately, while her fiancé, who was held tightly by the attackers, witnessed the rape without being able to respond.
The newspaper revealed that all seven attackers are of Egyptian origin, they followed the teenager and her friend when they approached the public restrooms and waited until there was no one, then approached and forced them to enter the restroom.
The Italian newspaper said that the group split inside the bathroom, where some immobilized the girl’s fiancé, while two raped the girl, while the rest of the group monitored the scene back and forth from the dividing wall of the restroom, noting that the incident lasted "half an hour of pure horror."
The newspaper mentioned that the victim tried in every way to defend herself and repeatedly screamed: "I beg you, please, don’t hurt me, let me go," then after the incident she was able to free herself and escape with her friend to the main street in Catania, then some passersby helped her and called the police. It added: The girl was taken to Cannizzaro Hospital and examined, and signs of violence were clear.
According to the newspaper, investigators described the girl as a very brave and determined teenager, who did not hesitate and chose to report the incident, and told the competent authorities in detail what happened to her.

The widely circulated Italian newspaper said that the cameras monitoring the municipal park played a crucial role in identifying the seven, as it became immediately clear that they were all foreigners and young people.
The newspaper continued: At that stage, the investigations focused on migrant reception centers in the city for unaccompanied minors.
The newspaper indicated that within a few hours, the offenders were identified, whose ages ranged between 15 and 19 years old. One of them was also identified by the victim.

The Italian newspaper revealed that the seven Egyptians arrived in Italy illegally years ago, and because they are all unaccompanied minors, their cases were referred to residential communities that cared for their education, then helped those who became adults in the meantime to find work.
The newspaper confirmed that the Deputy Public Prosecutor of Catania, Sebastiano Ardita, and the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office issued an arrest order for these attackers.

On her part, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who was in Catania to visit a factory, spoke about the violence the Italian girl was exposed to.
Meloni added: We have another young victim of sexual violence, expressing her solidarity with the victim, her family, and her fiancé, saying: “The state will be present and will ensure justice is served,” according to the Italian newspaper "Quotidiano Nazionale."
* Salvini demands castration
Meanwhile, Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Matteo Salvini, commented on the incident saying: "Don’t talk to me about tolerance or leniency in the face of such horrors, there can be no mercy, only one solution: chemical castration."
Salvini expressed hope that the proposal presented by the League movement he leads will be voted on as soon as possible, according to the Italian newspaper "Il Mattino."
