The newspaper "Yediot Ahronot" published a report revealing details "published for the first time" about a "diplomatic front" being formed with Canada and Germany against Iran and "Hezbollah".
"Yediot Ahronot" reported that the hourglass for a diplomatic solution on the northern (Israeli) border is running out, and Israel is increasing pressure on Iran in order to stop its influence in the region.
The website "Walla" reported that Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz agreed with Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly in a phone conversation he had with her, following a threat from Hezbollah's Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah to Cyprus (if it opens its facilities for war on Lebanon), to work together with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, who will visit Israel next Tuesday, and promote the imposition of additional sanctions on Iran in the European Union and Canada.
Foreign Minister Katz told Joly that Israel intends to return the evacuated residents to their homes before the start of the next school year (in the north), and that there is a need to act now.
The Canadian minister informed him that her country, due to recent developments, is sending military forces to Lebanon to evacuate 45,000 Canadian citizens, which is the largest rescue operation the country has ever witnessed.
According to Joly, the Canadians have already sent military forces to the region to assist in this operation.
Minister Katz explained that Israel is still interested in reaching a diplomatic solution to implement Resolution 1701, noting that U.S. President Joe Biden's envoy to the region, Amos Hochstein, and the French are still trying to find a solution.
The Israeli Foreign Minister requested Canada to join the United States and France in exerting these efforts and pressuring Iran to order "Hezbollah" to withdraw its forces to the north of the Litani River, according to "Yediot Ahronot".
Additionally, the Canadian Foreign Minister requested Israel to transfer tax funds to the Palestinian Authority, warning that if the Authority collapses, "Hamas" and Iran will take control of the region, which would endanger Israel, according to the newspaper.
Minister Katz replied that the existing Palestinian Authority "will not be able to control Gaza, and will have to make decisions about far-reaching reforms and a change in worldview, including radical changes in the education system and incitement to terrorism and stopping the payment of salaries to terrorists," as he described it.
Regarding Gaza, Minister Katz pointed out that "Israel intends to maintain security control over the area, and after eliminating "Hamas", transfer authority to local entities, which will receive assistance from moderate Arab countries and other actors such as the United States".
