The Belarusian army ranks 52nd among the 140 strongest armies in the world, while the country's president, Alexander Lukashenko, announced today, Tuesday, that work is underway to equip it with Russian "S-400" missile systems.
On February 18th of this year, Lukashenko said in press statements: "We have an agreement with Russia... we formed a unified group between Russia and Belarus here... a unified army... this is our official position."
According to statistics from the American website "Global Fire Power" for 2022, the total number of soldiers in the Belarusian army is about 445 thousand soldiers, including:
45 thousand active forces.
110 thousand paramilitary forces.
290 thousand reserve forces.
The population of Belarus reaches about 9.4 million people, including about 5 million people available workforce and 3.7 million capable of performing military service.
The Belarusian air force is ranked 44th globally and possesses 201 aircraft, including:
38 fighter and interceptor aircraft.
67 attack aircraft.
4 military transport aircraft.
30 training aircraft.
62 helicopters including 21 attack helicopters.
The Belarusian ground forces consist of 5 types of weapons in addition to manpower, and include:
601 tanks.
1510 armored vehicles.
482 self-propelled guns.
228 field guns.
238 rocket launchers.
Belarus possesses a logistical support force including a port and 65 airports in addition to a road network exceeding 86 thousand kilometers and a railway network exceeding 5.5 thousand kilometers.
