U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced today, Saturday, that the United States suspects that the visit of the Russian Defense Minister to North Korea aims to secure weapon supplies that his country needs in its war in Ukraine.

After Sergei Shoigu's visit to Pyongyang on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the truce that ended the Korean War, Blinken stated that Russia is touring its allies to stock up on weapons.

He also told reporters: "I doubt there will be a holiday." He continued: "We see Russia desperately seeking support and weapons wherever it can find them, to continue its aggression against Ukraine."

He added: "We notice this in North Korea, and we also observe it with Iran, which has supplied Russia with many drones that it uses to destroy civilian infrastructure and kill civilians in Ukraine."

Additionally, during his visit, Shoigu met with the country's leader Kim Jong Un and held "friendly" talks with him, according to official media in Pyongyang.

Kim took Shoigu on a tour of the latest and most advanced North Korean weapons, including intercontinental ballistic missiles and military drones that had not been seen before.
