The Austrian federal government began organizing several evacuation flights for citizens from Israel to Cyprus on Wednesday, in collaboration with the Austrian armed forces.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs requested in a statement that all Austrians who wish to take advantage of this service contact the Austrian embassy in Tel Aviv.

The statement noted the continued use of regular commercial flights as long as they are available, as well as holding current flight reservations, and urged reporting to the embassy if someone leaves Israel alone.

The statement mentioned that crisis teams are present as the first point of contact at Tel Aviv and Paphos airports to provide support with advice.

The statement quoted Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg as saying that several evacuation flights are currently being planned using a Hercules C-130 aircraft from the Austrian armed forces from Tel Aviv in Israel to Paphos in Cyprus, where regular scheduled flights to Vienna exist, and the frequency of these scheduled flights has recently increased.

For her part, Defense Minister Claudia Tanner stated that the Ministry of Defense has currently allocated a Hercules aircraft with two crews ready for the planned evacuation operation.

The minister pointed out that the Austrian army has formed a mobile crisis team from Ben Gurion Airport in Israel to Paphos Airport in Cyprus, which is available to assist travelers on-site.

In the same context, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi requested support from the International Committee of the Red Cross to evacuate 10 Indonesian citizens from Gaza, which is currently under Israeli bombardment.

The Indonesian news agency Antara reported the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs saying that "for this purpose, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi spoke with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Miraiana Spolyarić-Igor in Geneva."

According to the ministry, there are currently 45 Indonesian citizens residing in Palestine, about 10 of whom are in the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to brutal Israeli bombardment since October 7.

In addition to those in Palestine, the ministry noted that 230 Indonesian citizens are also conducting religious tours in Israel.

Regarding her discussions with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, the spokesperson said that the Foreign Minister urged the committee to support Indonesia's efforts to evacuate its citizens from Gaza and also urged the committee to support efforts to end the violence and establish a humanitarian corridor to Gaza.

Alongside talks with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Marsudi also discussed the current situation with representatives from Brazil, which is currently holding the presidency of the United Nations Security Council.
