Two German car manufacturers, Volkswagen and BMW, have decided to recall hundreds of thousands of cars in the United States due to various issues.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in the United States stated that Volkswagen and its subsidiary Audi will recall 261,257 cars.

According to the administration, the cars suffer from a problem in one of the fuel tank pumps, which increases the risk of fire, and repair centers will replace the pump for free.

At the same time, BMW is recalling 79,760 cars due to a problem in the braking system that can lead to an increased stopping distance when using the brake.

The defective parts in these cars will also be replaced for free.

The United States is considered an important market for German car companies. Last year, the Volkswagen Group sold about 993.1 thousand cars in North America, with an annual increase of 18%.

BMW sold 395,741 cars in the United States with an annual increase of 9%.
