The actions of the Metro Vancouver transit police are under scrutiny after a video circulated online showing a woman being shocked while being arrested on Thursday night. The woman can be heard saying in a video posted by a witness on Twitter: "Please let me put on my shirt again," as her shirt is pulled over her head, while two officers restrain her on the ground at a crowded station. It is alleged that she was experiencing a mental health crisis at the Granville SkyTrain station and threatening other passengers, according to a tweet posted by Metro Vancouver transit police. The post stated: "The officers used physical force, including a stun gun, to prevent her from harming herself and others, and she is now in the hospital receiving the care she needs." A witness who recorded the incident also claims that one officer placed his knee on the woman's neck, and she was also kicked on the back by the other officer, all while she was being shocked. Calls have increased online for answers and accountability for the two officers involved in the woman's arrest. Likewise, Vick Ritchie, a Vancouver resident, told CTV: "This situation requires further investigation, and the results of this investigation should be shared with the public," adding that she does not feel safe because the police officers assigned to protect citizens are hitting and harassing women who do not even resist arrest.
