After U.S. President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau concluded their historic summit on Friday, former President Donald Trump expressed his contempt for what he described as terrible deals between Canada and the United States.

During his first major rally since announcing his candidacy for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, Trump spoke to his supporters in Waco, Texas on Saturday.

It is worth noting that under Trump’s presidency, the United States and Canada renegotiated the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) along with Mexico to form a new agreement between the United States, Mexico, and Canada (USMCA). In his speech, Trump said that Canada treated the United States terribly on trade issues, but he also described Trudeau as a noble man.

During his campaign, Trump also added: “I dealt with Trudeau and dealt with some of his officials, I see these different deals they announce, they are terrible and horrible deals for our country, but great deals for Canada.”

Trudeau and Biden discussed a range of cross-border issues during their meeting, but the focus was on strengthening the North American Aerospace Defense Command (Norad), controlling informal entry routes to address irregular immigration, boosting renewable energy efforts, and supporting Haiti.

For his part, Trump said: “I saw Joe Biden yesterday in the halls of the Canadian Parliament, that beautiful parliament, where Trudeau sits with his beautiful wife and laughs, thinking they fooled Biden.”

Trump confirmed that he would not have made the deals they made.

Additionally, Trump also spoke about Biden’s brief mistake during his speech in the House of Commons, when he mistakenly thanked China before correcting himself to thank Canada instead, adding: “I saw Joe Biden say, ‘I want to thank China’ while he was in Canada, and the whole room started laughing … They are laughing at our country, and we don’t want anyone laughing, nobody laughed at our country when I was president, and I can assure you of that.”
