The United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths said today, Tuesday, that the strike launched by the Israeli occupation on a camp for displaced persons in Rafah, southern Gaza, is "the latest atrocity and perhaps the most brutal."

In response to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's statement describing the strike as "a tragic unfortunate incident," Griffiths said in a statement that this description is "a message that means nothing to those who have been killed, to those who are mourning, and to those who are trying to save lives," according to the Saudi news channel "Al-Sharq."

Forty-five Palestinians were killed and dozens were injured in a new massacre committed by the Israeli occupation forces on Sunday evening, after bombing a camp for displaced persons northwest of Rafah.

The camp is located in areas that the occupation forces had previously designated as safe and had called on the displaced to move to, and no statements or warnings were issued to the displaced or the residents of the area to evacuate it, according to the Palestinian news and information agency "Wafa."

This massacre comes just two days after the International Court of Justice, the highest judicial body in the UN, issued orders for Israel, the occupying power, to immediately cease its military operations in Rafah Governorate and to ensure the opening of the Rafah crossing to allow humanitarian aid to enter the Gaza Strip.
