Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corporation said it received a report from Toyota Industries' verification unit concerning some diesel engines, explaining that it will temporarily suspend shipping ten of its related car models.
BBC reported that the company said the investigation committee found violations during the horsepower test in three engine models.
The investigation concluded that the horsepower was measured with a program different from the one used in mass production, so the values appear less variable.
The company clarified that ten types of cars use these engines worldwide, six of which are in Japan.
