The Toronto Police are investigating a shooting overnight south of the Cabagetown neighborhood in Toronto that resulted in four men suffering serious injuries.

The incident occurred on Sherbourne Street, just north of Dundas Street, at approximately 2:45 a.m. on Saturday.

Kerry Fernandez stated that officers located four victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Two were transported to the hospital in life-threatening condition, while the other two were in critical condition.

In an update on Saturday afternoon, police said three male victims remain in life-threatening condition. The injuries of the fourth victim are now considered non-life-threatening.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting are unknown, but Fernandez said police are looking for "multiple" suspects.

She added, "We are very early in the investigation and cannot determine the number of shooters at this time, but we know that more than one person is involved."

Fernandez continued, "We don’t have a description to provide at this time, so we are really urging the public to come forward with any video or witness information they may have."

When asked if there was an exchange of gunfire, the inspector said it was too early in the investigation to know exactly what transpired.

Fernandez stated, "We have many officers collecting area cameras and witness data, as with some densely populated areas, business surveillance cameras may capture something related to the incident."

A resident in the area reported that the shooting was preceded by a physical fight on Friday afternoon. Another neighbor, who requested to remain anonymous, said crime in the area has picked up recently, culminating in the shooting on Saturday morning "which became inevitable."

The police are also investigating a stabbing incident that occurred in the area of Adelaide and Simcoe Streets.

Four males received medical care at four separate hospitals in Toronto following a stabbing that occurred early Sunday morning and an assault in the city's entertainment district.

Toronto Police were called to the scene at 3:09 a.m.

According to Toronto paramedics, two adult patients were transported to the hospital from the scene: one with serious injuries to a trauma center and another with minor injuries to a local hospital.

Police said two other victims were found on their way to the hospital. One of the stabbing victims, who suffered serious injuries but is now stable, was making his way there in an Uber.

Police indicated that one of the victims of the assaults with minor injuries went to the hospital on their own to be checked, adding that it is unknown whether the victims "are known to each other."

No suspect information is available at this time.

Investigators also cannot say at this stage whether the incident was targeted and stated that they are still working to determine the circumstances that led to it.

Police said the investigation is "active and ongoing."

Anyone with information, including video footage, is asked to contact the Toronto Police.
