Toronto police reported that a security guard at a hotel in north Etobicoke was stabbed this morning, Saturday, by a person who is said to have been trying to enter the hotel.
The police said officers were called to the Four Points by Sheraton hotel near Toronto Pearson Airport after 10 a.m.
The police explained, "Those who called 911 reported that a person was trying to enter the hotel before stabbing the security guard."
A man in his fifties was taken to trauma center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the incident, according to police.
The police stated that the suspect, a man who is five feet six inches tall and of slim build, fled the scene and was chased by witnesses during the stabbing.
The police added that he was apprehended shortly thereafter, and it is unclear what charges he faces in connection with the incident.
A police car was seen at the stabbing scene on Saturday morning as investigators continue to search for the weapon.
