Canadian park officials have indicated that they are making progress in combating wildfires in Jasper National Park.
A late update on Sunday night from the park's official account on X mentioned that crews were busy on multiple fronts, as the Canadian Armed Forces tackled scattered fires on the northwestern side of Jasper.
With temperatures in the region expected to remain in the mid-twenties this week, Jasper National Park confirmed that it is crucial to continue making progress during this time.
Among the efforts is a 12-inch sprinkler line, which the park says is nearing completion along the community fire guard.
Authorities ordered the evacuation of more than 20,000 people in the community and surrounding areas located in the Rocky Mountains, about four hours west of Edmonton, last Monday due to rapid wildfires.
Canadian Parks estimated that 30 percent of buildings in Jasper were damaged due to the wildfires.
