The Somali army, in cooperation with international partners, killed 30 members of the "terrorist Khawarij militias" in a military operation that took place yesterday, Wednesday, in the Galmudug regional state in the center of the country.
Somalia uses the phrase "Khawarij militia" to refer to Al-Shabaab.
According to the Somali News Agency (SONA) today, Thursday, "this operation comes at a time when the armed forces, in cooperation with the popular resistance, have intensified their operations against the Khawarij militias in areas of southern and central Somalia."
According to the agency, "the national army has managed, in the military operations it conducts in cooperation with the popular resistance and international partners, to undermine the capabilities of the Khawarij militias and liberate more than 80 cities and regions in the country."
