Reporters Without Borders said it has filed a lawsuit before the International Criminal Court regarding war crimes committed against journalists during the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
This was stated in a statement issued by the NGO that defends press freedom, indicating that journalists were killed or injured in attacks amounting to war crimes.
It also clarified that the scale of international crimes committed against journalists, especially in Gaza, and their seriousness and recurrent nature, necessitate prioritizing an investigation by the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court.
The lawsuit filed by Reporters Without Borders to the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court on Tuesday includes details about the martyrdom of 9 journalists and the injury of 2 others while performing their duties since October 7 in Gaza.
The statement also indicated that Israel has completely or partially destroyed the buildings of more than 50 media outlets in Gaza, which has been subjected to heavy Israeli airstrikes for 27 days.
Thirty-four journalists have been martyred since the beginning of the war between the Zionist entity and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), including at least 12 journalists who were martyred while covering war events; 10 of them were martyred in Gaza, one in Lebanon, and another in the occupied territories.
