Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said during a call with Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi that Beijing calls on the international community to hold a high-level international conference on the Palestinian issue.

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs quoted Wang Yi today, Wednesday, on its official website saying: "At the recent extraordinary emergency session of the United Nations General Assembly, the overwhelming majority adopted a resolution calling for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire, which reflects the decisive voice of the international community."

He also added: "China supports holding a broad international peace conference with greater authority and effectiveness as soon as possible to return the Palestinian issue to the path of a two-state solution."

The Chinese diplomat pointed out that the situation in the Gaza Strip is worsening day by day, and the number of civilian casualties is increasing.

Wang Yi also said: "No responsible country with a moral sense can allow this tragedy to continue."
