The central library in the Ealing area of West London was forced to temporarily close today, Wednesday, due to the spread of "bed bugs".

The BBC, referring to municipal authorities, stated that "the library has closed its doors due to the widespread infestation of bed bugs inside it."

A spokesperson for the local government said: "The council agreed to the closure because of the concerns raised by the library visitors and staff, and this decision is the right thing to do."

France had previously faced the bed bug problem, where the capital Paris witnessed an unprecedented wave in public places such as the subway, trains, and cinemas, prompting the government to take action and expand the scope of work.

Several schools with about 1,500 students were closed. The French Health Minister, Aurélien Rousseau, called for calm in facing the problem.

Likewise, London Mayor Sadiq Khan earlier confirmed that the city will not allow a "bed bug invasion." He said public facilities disinfect transportation daily. However, local media reported that London residents have repeatedly noticed the presence of bed bugs in the subway in recent weeks.
