The Spanish government has formed an expert committee to prepare an action plan on the best way to protect children from online pornography.
The left-wing government, led by Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, said after a weekly cabinet meeting on Tuesday that the committee must develop an action plan over the next six months.
Sánchez highlighted a worrying increase in minors viewing online pornography in Spain.
The socialist politician emphasized that "it is not an exaggeration to say that we are dealing with a real epidemic; the victims are our sons and daughters."
The committee is scheduled to include about 50 experts in various fields.
Youth Minister Sierra Rego mentioned that the government hopes, in addition to the committee, that "all political and social forces in the country" as well as children and youth participate in the project.
