The severe cold wave and snowstorms have caused the cancellation and delay of a large number of flights across Canadian airports.

According to Toronto Pearson International Airport, as of 5 PM, 30 departing flights and 39 arriving flights were canceled between Friday and Saturday, with dozens of other flights delayed.
Severe weather events lead to a reduction in the number of safe landings the airport can handle.

While cancellations can cause frustrations for airlines and travelers, delays can lead to a bottleneck in departing flights, leaving passengers and staff stuck at airports for hours.

Sunwing Airlines said it is closely monitoring weather forecasts, but travelers with flights departing between Friday and Saturday are encouraged to sign up for flight alerts and check their flight status before travel.

Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport witnessed the cancellation of 23 arriving and departing flights between Friday and Saturday, while in Montreal, 34 different flights were canceled between Friday and Saturday, and only a few flights were canceled at Winnipeg Richardson International Airport on Friday.

At Calgary International Airport, 35 arriving and departing flights were canceled on Friday, while at Edmonton International Airport, 25 arriving and departing flights were canceled between Friday and Saturday.
