Axios reporter Barak Ravid stated on X that Israeli Internal Security Service Director Ronen Bar met with Egyptian Intelligence Chief Abbas Kamel in a meeting in Cairo on Sunday, citing "a source familiar with the visit."
According to Ravid, the two men discussed the stalled negotiations regarding the hostage release deal and a ceasefire but did not reach any breakthroughs.
The report mentioned that one of the sticking points discussed by the two intelligence officials was the issue of the Rafah border crossing, which has been closed since May when the Israel Defense Forces launched their attack on southern Gaza city.
The Israeli Internal Security Service refuses to comment on the report.
