In a speech delivered today, Friday, the Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, confirmed that entering into negotiations with the United States "is neither smart nor wise nor honorable," pointing out that past experiences have proven the failure of such talks. Khamenei added that Iran has made concessions in the past, yet the United States tore up the agreements made. He emphasized that if Americans violate the security of the Iranian people, Iran will attack their security without hesitation.

These statements come in the context of increasing tensions between Iran and the United States, especially after U.S. President Donald Trump's suggestion to hold nuclear talks with Tehran. Despite his criticism of negotiations, Khamenei did not explicitly prevent Iranian officials from entering talks with Washington, leaving the door open for the possibility of negotiations.

Earlier, specifically in November 2024, Khamenei vowed a "crushing" response to the United States and Israel if they took any actions against Iran. He stated at that time: "The enemies, including America and the Zionist regime, should know that they will undoubtedly receive a crushing response to what they do against Iran and the resistance axis."

These statements reflect Iran's firm position regarding any threats to its national security, reiterating its readiness to respond reciprocally to any potential aggressions.
