Russia used its veto power in the United Nations Security Council to reject a draft resolution condemning the Russian military operation in Ukraine.
The draft resolution was presented to the Security Council on Friday by the United States and some other countries.

Eleven countries voted in favor of the draft resolution, while three countries abstained from voting (the UAE, India, China), and Russia, which has veto power, voted against the draft resolution.

The draft resolution condemned the Russian military operation in Ukraine. The draft resolution considered the Russian operation a "violation of international law" and demanded that Moscow withdraw all forces beyond Ukraine's borders.

The draft also condemned the Russian recognition of the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics.

The document was submitted on behalf of 65 United Nations member states, including Ukraine and many Western countries.
